Rank Test FAQ What is the purpose of a formal rank test & why should I participate?
Formal Rank Tests are a critical tool in building self esteem & confidence in each student.
They provide students with a sense of accomplishment & foster their belief in
their own abilities. Additionally it gives Sensei the opportunity to evaluate
the student’s progress & their ability to perform system requirements while
under stress. Lastly, it is a wonderful opportunity for each student &
their families to build a sense of teamwork & unity with each other; it is
an incredible bonding experience.
I am not testing, why should I attend?
To begin, if you are a karate-ka (student) of Victory Martial Arts then you are part of an elite
team of students, trained by world class martial artists. You should always
support your fellow karate-ka in whatever they strive to do. Watching a rank
test is a perfect way to show your support!
I’m testing for white-belt/stripe or another low rank, what’s the big deal?
If you are testing for any belt then you must have put in a lot of hard work over the past
few weeks (or months) to even be invited to test. So, don’t lessen the value of
your hard work by thinking that testing for a white/stripe or orange belt is no
big deal; it’s one more belt than someone who never tries karate will ever
achieve! Each belt is significant of the time & hard work an individual has
put forth towards achieving their Black Belt.
Don’t forget that a
Black Belt is simply a white belt that
NEVER GAVE UP!
